Dakar, Se canceló la 6° etapa por el mal tiempo de la frontera
La organización del Rally Dakar 2012 decidió suspender la sexta etapa, entre Copiapó y Fiambalá, que cruzaba este viernes la cordillera desde Argentina a Chile, por un persistente frente de mal tiempo en la frontera.
Las intensas nevazones a gran altura ya hacÃan presumir una medida que se confirmó finalmente y que terminó por anular la especial de 247 kilómetros.
Según un comunicado de los organizadores, la medida se debe a que “teniendo en cuenta el empeoramiento de las condiciones meteorológicas sobre la cordillera (lluvia y nieve), las autoridades chilenas se han visto obligadas a cerrar, esta noche, el Paso San Francisco cuya cumbre se encuentra a 4.700 metros”.
“Vistas las difÃciles condiciones, sumándose a la degradación del recorrido debido a la lluvia y a la nieve, y para garantizar la seguridad de los participantes y de los seguidores del rally, los organizadores han decidido que la totalidad de los vehÃculos pasará en convoy. El itinerario inicialmente previsto ha sido modificado después de la frontera chilena (seguir la carretera principal a la derecha que conduce a Diego de Almagro)”, añadió el texto.
AsÃ, la prueba se reanudará el sábado 7 con el recorrido entre Copiapó y Antofagasta, que contempla un tramo cronometrado de 477 kilómetros. El dÃa de descanso será siempre el domingo 8.
